TO ALL: I have been looking around for information on the subject line above, I have heard that Oracle 8 runs a little faster on the 64bit OS. Now for a few questions.

  1. Can anyone tell me if that's true?
  2. Is there really a speed up between 10.20 and the 11.0 64bit?
  3. Has anyone done any testing?
  4. Is there really a good enough reason to go to Oracle 8 and 11.0?

Any info/site info would be helpful.

I have heard the only reason to go to 11.0 is if you are going to have more than 4 gig of memory, that way you could address it.

The system I would like to run it on is a D380/2 with 1 gig of memory.
