DATABASE PRODUCT MANAGER  The database product manager is responsible for the success of the Tandem Division's database products, NonStop SQL/MP and NonStop SQL/MX.

The Tandem Division of Compaq Computer Corporation builds hardware and software for use in applications which demand the highest in reliability, availability and scalability. NonStop Systems from the Tandem Division are in use at most of the major stock exchanges around the world, in most ATM transactions and in most credit card transactions. NonStop Software produces database and transaction processing software upon which these customers depend. NonStop SQL is one of the products from NonStop Software. All these products embody technology to support continuous processing despite hardware or software failures and to handle massive tasks using parallel algorithms throughout the products.

NonStop SQL is used by companies such as London Stock Exchange, Dayton Hudson Corporation, WorldCom and DeutscheTelekom for high volume, non-stop transactions and for data warehouses exceeding 1 TB in size.

The database product manager ensures the success of the Tandem Division's database products by setting strategy, overseeing implementation of the strategy and creating excitement among partners, customers and sales channels for the product. Responsibilities include tracking market trends and competition, developing product objectives, setting prices, identifying technology partners, presenting to customers and partners, and producing product descriptions and sales/marketing background papers. Specific skills in introducing products to the market are critical.

 EDU/EXP: Extensive knowledge of the database marketplace and technical understanding of database software sufficient to develop winning product programs and optimum introduction of products to the marketplace. Applicant should have 7 years product management experience. Understanding of NonStop Software products is a plus. Must possess strong written and oral presentation skills sufficient to interface with all levels of Compaq executive management, partners and customers.
