Oracle 8.0.4 and Windows NT OS Authentication

Had set up a bunch of "external" users on my production database. Used the default OS prefix of OPS$ on each one and set the authentication to "external". This worked fine and dandy on the first few NT Workstations we installed. Then, we added a bunch more workstations. Automatic authentication just won't work on them!

Example:

  1. I log in to the domain from one of the original Windows NT Workstations. The userid is "myself", which I have set up in Oracle as OPS$MYSELF. Next, I start up my application which connects to Oracle without specifying any user-id or password. Because of Automatic Operating System Authentication, my application is able to connect successfully.
  2. I now log in the same exact way from one of the new Windows NT Workstations. I repeat everything above, but now the application tells me that the connection failed!

It seems to depend on the particular workstation, not the userid. Can anybody shed some light on this problem? TIA Received on Fri Aug 28 1998 - 13:32:19 CDT
