Hi,

We had the same problems on UNIX. It was due to a bug in oracle 7.3.2. Oracle TRACE is enabled by default, so performance ( especially during connect ) are very slow.

Check in $ORACLE_HOME/otrace/admin the size of the files regid.dat and process.dat, then run the command otrcref, this will decrease the size of the ORACLE trace files. Normally after running otrcref performance will be better.

Maybe you have the same pbm ON VMS than on UNIX.
