Hi Steven:

        I my network i have Oracle8 and Oracle7 in two servers and i use Oracle 7 Client for Win95 to connect both of them without any problem. the Sqlnet V8 from Oracle8 if backward compatible with SqlNet2 from Oracle7.

Then i think you have any configuration problem in you Net 8 Listener or Tnsnames from Oracle7 Clients?
