First of all, I'm NOT new to either Oracle or UNIX, so I don't think this is
something obvious.
I'm running Oracle 7.3.4.1 on AIX 4.2.1. There is no kernel global "max processes" value, and I've upped the per-user-id max processes value to 250 with no change.
I have added another half gig of paging space. We now have a gig of RAM and 1.5 of paging space. This made no difference either.
I have reloaded the listener, to no effect.
This server runs three Oracle instances, and they all exhibit the problem. These instances are not new, and have not been touched in weeks. I can't think of anything that has changed that could possibly cause this.
The problem seems to be that a SEGV fault is occurring. The Oracle alert log shows nothing, but each time this occurs (It's not solid, by the way. Sometimes you get it and sometimes you don't.), a trace file is produced. All of them look very much like the following. If you can shed any light on what I should look at next, PLEASE reply to my email address: tgp_at_mci2000.com, and let me know.
