Gee, I will have to tell the following companies that have put indentifing cookies in my browser that they think in intranet mode and could never handle thousands of hits from around the world.

The list:

amazon.com
netmarket.com
sun.com
microsoft.com (msn and msnbc)
etc, etc, etc ...

Yes, cookies are not the most secure and reliable but they are not an intranet only tool.
