We do notice that v$sysstat shows hits on "cleanouts only - consistent read gets" and "immediate (CR) block cleanout applications".

My impression from the Oracle 7 documentation was that it deals with ensuring a consistent view of data only when an actual collision occurs. Do you think it might actually write a snapshot of it to disk just in case some updates may arrive later?
