go to www.revealnet.com and purchase their "Instant Messages and Codes" module. It has ALL Oracle 7 and 8 messages. It also including Developer, Designer, OEM, and some other Oracle APP messges. My firm purchased it as part of thir Oracle Admin Module. They also have a PL/SQL module and modules for DB2. It's not free and isn't too expensive. We find it invalueable.

you could also look up the error on the Messages and Codes manual with your browser if you have a CD of the Oracle Documentation. I also believe that there is a list of meesages in the help section of Oracle documentation that you get with Oracle 7 and 8 for WIN NT
