NT 3.51 & 7.2.2.4 to NT 4.0 & 7.3.4 Migration

I need to take a production Oracle database from Alpha 1000 NT 3.51/sp5 & 7.2.2.4 to Much bigger better Alpha NT 4.0/sp3 & 7.3.4 I may also need to be able to reverse the process if it is not successful. There will be two servers operating in parallel for 2 weeks during the testing.

Database is some 15GB in total size and exists on a RAID set and it is 24x7x365 Archivelog mode. There is a 70GB DLT drive on both servers.

I'd suggest a point in time export initially to the new server. Test on the new server, keep using the old running as before. Re-export the old to the new after testing and then decommission the old. Some downtime allowed. The old server will be either moth-balled or held as a dev/standby server so, .....should anything go majorly wrong on the 7.3.4 would it be easy to revert DOWN to the 7.2.2.4 Oracle database ? Don't want to use the migration utility if I can help it. I don't think it would work anyway.
