Is it possible to archive data to tape ??

I had a question regarding archiving data in Oracle. Not to be confused with "Archive Log" archiving. Instead if certain tables in the database grow rapidly and old data needs to be archived (to tape, for e.g.). Can it be done in such a way as to retrieve the data quickly and can it be done in such a way that data can be continuously archived so that the primary tables do not grow out of control and hence run out of disk space.
Am i way of the mark here or is there something available to be able to do this.
Thanks a bunch for any clues on this.
