Well, try:

  1. Putting a network card in your PC. They are dirt cheap, and you don't need to connect it to a network.
  2. Just install the 'top end' of TCP-IP (like you would for,say, RAS). Then use the local loopback of 127.0.0.1.
  3. Use another protocol instead like 'beq', the local IPC protocol.
