We have been running EBU with Legato for about 9 months now doing both hot and cold backups. We have restored both hot and cold backups without problems. As a matter of fact, we have a server dedicated to just validating our restore capabilities. We restore about 1 database a week from both hot and cold backups to make sure the backups are good and to give people practice in restoring databases.

We have about 30 HP/UX servers with 7.2.3 to 7.3.3 versions of Oracle installed with about 20 instances on about 15 of them.

We do nightly exports along with our hot backups and we save our archive logs outside of EBU to make sure we are doublely covered. We create a list of the archive logs, do a hot backup (not deleting the archive logs), export the data, and then do a Legato backup of the export file and the archive logs in the list created, and then delete the archive logs in the list.

We have only had to use it about twice in the last 9 months, but we test it out regularly to validate it our business units.
