WAS with IIS Listener - where's the GOOD documentation?

I am evaluating the WAS using an IIS listener. I can't find any good documentation that describes the architecture of this setup (ie. how does the WAS interact with the IIS , etc). I'm not a database administrator. I need info on the benefits/pitfalls of this setup WRT data access, server and client side development limitations, and hardware requirements.

I am hoping someone out there has some practical advice WRT this configuration.
