Slow Exp73 from ORACLE8 database

We've found any application (Plus33, EXP73, etc.) which communicates via SQL*Net 2.3 Client with Net8 Server works much slower than the 8th version of
the same application (Plus80, EXP80) communicating via Net8 Client with Net8 Server.
There seems to be some demanding conversion between SQL*Net 2.3 Client and NET8 Server.
We run Oracle8 Enterprise Edition Release 8.0.3.2.2. for NT.
