RE: ORA-12571 on Novell 4.11 - Oracle 7.1 --URGENT- HELP ------

I often get the same messages. I talk to Oracle support and didn't get much help. They put blame on faulty network equipment. What they suggested is to edit the sqlnet.ora file on the server and the client. Change the SQLNET.EXPIRE_TIME = 0 and increase CONNECT_TIMEOUT_LISTENER=300. Ww use a NT4 server with Oracle 732. Oracle support is blaming the NT interface driver. To be honest, these 12571 messages don't produce an error visible to the application user, and therefore I didn't try their suggestion. I get roughly between 6 and 10 ORA-12571 messages per week.
