Oracle forms 4.5 with Personal oracle 8

I am trying to connect to a Personal Oracle 8 database using Oracle Forms 4.5 and SQL_Plus 3.1. They do not seem to recognize the "bequeath" (BEQ) protocol adapter. Is there another protocol I can use or am I SOL?
