We have 3 different Installations on one HP/UX 10.20 machine (7.3.2, 7.3.3 and 8.0.3) from which we start 5 different instances at a time.
There're no problems at all, as long as you know exactly what ORA_SID and ORA_HOME is set in your environment. For security reasons the dba-group (and the dba user, of course) has been changed for every single installation. The OFA is recommended but not necessary. The directory structure below $ORACLE_HOME must remain unchanged. We do some data exchange via db-link amongst the instances, and everything works fine (except the Oracle Replication, which is very, very buggy in Oracle 7.3).
Regards
Peter
