NEWSFLASH: Oracle Technology breakthrough in Windows95/NT Networking!

A major breakthrough is announced - you can now run Windows95/NT applications/programs 100% native mode from inside Linux Window!! The research lab founded by 'Olivetti corporation' and 'Oracle corporation' is offering the software at this site - see http://www.orl.co.uk/vnc/

Using the 'VNC Virtual Network Computing' software, you run all the Windows95/NT programs remotely on Windows95/NT box BUT display locally inside the Linux box!!

My strong advice to companies is to invest the "dollars" in networking hardware like fast ethernet cards and do not burn out dollars on operating system like windows 95/NT.

Linux is a excellent Network computer, Network PC system. Now, you can have ONLY ONE Windows NT for the entire company and have LINUX on all the other PCs!! This idea saves the company millions of dollars because --

Cost of Linux per seat = $0
Cost of Windows95 per seat = $289 ($90 for upgrade but must have 3.x)
Cost of WindowsNT per seat = $799 (server) $300 (workstation)
Users will not complain because they can still run all of their favorite Windows95/NT programs like MS Word, Excel inside linux and at the same time can also run Unix/Linux programs inside linux!!!!

And combine VNC with SAMBA (which is included in Linux). Use samba to mount linux disk partitions on Win95/NT as folders and vice versa!! Linux is EXCELLENT "Fileserver" box for Windows95/NT!

Another strong advice - migrate rapidly to platform independent C++ Qt or JAVA!! Get java from Borland or Sun Micro and not from M$. See Borland JBuilder at http://www.borland.com and C++ Qt http://www.troll.no

	       ===========================================
LINUX (UNIX) is a 100% POSIX compliant operating system
	--------------------------------------------------------
100% POSIX compliance is required by U.S. Govt. on OS
	------------------------------------------------------
o Linux was awarded 'The BEST Network Operating system, 1997/98' by   InfoWorld computer magazine
o Movie 'Titanic' was made with Linux on digital alpha, graphics and animations.
o Windows95, Windows NT fail the CRASH_OS_TEST programs and only Linux   passes. Linux scales much BETTER than NT on SMP boxes.   Linux runs MUCH faster than Windows95/NT o Linux is created by YOU, repeat "YOU" created linux, Windows is   created by Microsoft and NOT by YOU and you do not any control on   window95/nt!
o Linux OS NEVER crashes!! Why? Because there is not even a minute   bug in the kernel source code. The kernel source code is reviewed   by millions of people on internet and it is 100% perfect!

Try Linux once. It is a robust, powerful 32-bit OS. Ok,Ok,OK.. Before asking me any more questions please go to this site : http://www.WGS.com/LDP/HOWTO where there is peace and prosperity and where most intelligent people on this planet are crowded... Received on Tue Mar 31 1998 - 00:00:00 CST
