Nope. Bill Gates has recognized the importance and breadth of the cultured pearl market and has decided to bundle for free MS-Pearl with all new versions of NT. This naturally also happens with W98, where all OEMs have to include it. In the meantime, if you are running NT3.5.1, you can get this with SP14, with NT4, SP9 and with NT5, SP4.

MS also announced that it will make available an industry standard API for MS-Pearl. The API is to be called MSPI. Novell and IBM have announced their intention to support the API in the Power-PC platform. Apple has indicated that similar functionality has always been available in the Mac, so there is no need for a new API.

Of course, you still have to supply the sand....
