WAS: JDBC vs. PL/SQL

Does anyone have any experience/comments with using JDBC or stored procedures when building a Java cartridge? This application is pretty data intensive, but not transaction intensive. Is it more advisable to have the logic in the middle tier or not? Is one more stable than the other?
