Trace files

Greetings all...

Is there an easy way to extract information from your typical Oracle trace file? I need only the SID, the file ID, and the block ID in order to locate a bad block. I realize that there could possibly be other information contained in the file, but if there were some script that could simply scan the file for this information and then display it in a neater format, it would significantly descrease the amount of time to troubleshoot problems. As it is, I have to scoot over to ~oracle/rdbms/log and open up each file one at a time. Surely, there must be a better way! Does Enterprise Manager do something like clicking a button, and <poof> there are the bad blocks? (I know... I'm lazy.)

Just wondering,

dan kefford
