Hi,
Any Oracle DBAs run into this problem? You want to add another database file, yet the OS restriction won't allow you. I know about maxdatafiles and db_files settings, but how do you increase the File Descriptor setting in Solaris 2.5.1?

This setting can be seen when doing the following as root: sysdef | grep file

it shows the following:
40:400 File Descriptors (current:maxium)
