Please note



The explain plan viewed by tkproff is the same for both queries, and use of
index is not indicated. Table scan used.  Strange ??



At first I thought the increase in CPU was because DATE comparison may be
more expensive. So if the first condition fails will not require to carry
out the second comparison?
