Aka proprietary language (not that there's necessarily anything wrong with that, especially given Oracle's market share). DB2 takes a different approach, allowing you to use a variety of languages (C++, COBOL, Fortran, Java etc.) to write UDF's, stored procedures, and to embed SQL in, of course.
