From: Yuttana Santijunyaporn <yuttana_at_siamcity.co.th> >>  ORA-00443: background process "PMON" did not start   ORA-07269: spdcr: detached process died after exec.   Additional information: 11 <<

  1. Verify that no left over pmon or other Oracle db backgroud processes are on your system.
  2. Enter svrmgrl and issue shutdown abort to make sure Oracle rdbms knows it is not running etc...
  3. Check the pmon trace file and ora_dump directory for trace files and give them a glance
  4. Review alert log for any other messages just prior to above
  5. Try starting again
  6. If it spits out errors again you will probably need to call Oracle support

If you have any log files from when the backups, that you laid back down, were made then you may wish to review them to make sure the backup files are valid and consistent with each other.

A little background information on what happened that caused you to need to do what appears to be a full recovery may allow someone to provide you with a better solution.

Good Luck. I have spent several nights on the phone to support with a database that would not re-start due to rollback and system table space corruption. These kind of situations are not fun.
