Are nested Updateable Snapshots possible with Oracle8

I understand that a multimaster replication model can be created and that updateable snapshots can be taken from any member of the multimaster set. However I believe that all the multimaster instances must be identical. I would like to create a central master database with partial replication (subsets of the same set of tables) to independent databases. The central master would be at head office and the partial replications (updateable snapshots) would be district offices which only require data for their own territories. From these district databases (the updateable snapshots) I would like to take further updateable snapshots (further subsets of data) for use by planners to create what-if variations. Is this possible: to take an updateable snapshot from an updateable snapshot? Is there someother way to accomplish this? Thanks in advance. Received on Wed Jan 14 1998 - 00:00:00 CST
