Another argument for Linux/FreeBSD-port of Oracle is that this is one way Oracle can hurt MS. MS is offering their DBase for free and charge for the OS. Oracle can charge (have to charge) for the DBase, but they can offer it on a free OS. In terms of money, that could turn out to be equivalent. Well, OS/2 if free too but not everybody likes to run it.
