A six CPU ALR or COMPAQ or DELL with 200 MHz Pentium PROs and max memory might do the job.

The problem is are there going to be 300 CONCURRENT users? If so, then current INTEL platforms are insufficient.

ORACLE loves memory (for large db_block_buffers) so a 32 bit operating system is the limitation.

Go to DEC alphas for very large memory (VLM) architectures. This is the preferred data warehouse platform.
