Multithreading and Oracle

Has anyone ever implemented any multithreaded 
programs accessing Oracle 7 (or 8) Server 
databases through embedded SQL, or Oracle Call 
Interfaces ?


Is the client side thread safe ? How should I 
proceed to allow concurrent accesses to a table 
from different threads (only one process ...) ?
Note that the Operating System is Unix AIX 4.2.1.
