I found the bigest problem with using Raid-5 regardless of the OS is the tunning the Database at the physical level.

Seeing this is impossible when using raid-5 it is very possible I/O performance might suffer. We compensated by putting 16Meg of cache on the Controller. By the way this is on a NT platform.
