A simple answer to your question is yes, to configure MTS, all you need is change init file and restart the database. However, I would try the changes in a test instance first, and sort out all issues that arise outof this change. Please note the same size SGA will start behaving quite differently with MTS since sort area becomes part of SGA in an MTS configuration. So, take this factor into account and adjust your SGA.

You may also have to change client site configuration files (SQLNET.ORA/TNSNAMES.ORA) if you have 'DEDICATED_CONNECTIONS' set ON previously.
