Renaming Tablespaces

I have researched the Oracle doc for a way to rename tablespaces, but have come to the belief that Oracle doesn't support it. Short of dropping and recreating the tablespaces, does anyone have an alternative?

I am using Oracle 7.3.2.3 on Solaris 2.5
