I am running version 7.3.3 on Oracle on a sun-ultraenterprise with 4 cpu and 1024M using solaris 2.5.1.
I too have 5-6 instances and am using the following settings,

set shmsys:shminfo_shmmax=536870912
set shmsys:shminfo_shmseg=20
 set semsys:seminfo_semmns=1000
set semsys:seminfo_semmni=200
set semsys:seminfo_semmsl=100

The only one of these that may cause you a problem is shmmax - if you do need to reduce this value it must still exceed the maximum sga size.

Hope this information is useful,

Regards,
