From a command prompt issue the following command 'set oracle_sid=123' then start server mgr within the same command window. The sid will remain in effect for this window only, however you can start sql*plus from the command prompt as well as server manager. If you start sql*plus from the start menu the sid used will be the one set in the NT registry.
