Hi to all,

I got the following message from Oracle after I submit a simple select query:

ORA-01578: ORACLE data block corrupted (file # 13, block # 279028) ORA-01110: data file 13: 'f:\database\macuniv02.dbf'

ORA-01578 says:
Cause: The given data block was corrupted probably due to

        program errors.
Action:Try to restore the segment containing the given data block.

This may involve dropping the segment and recreating it. It
there is a trace file, report the messages recorded in it to
	customer support.

Does this mean the data in this segment is lost forever? What does program error mean?

Any advice on how I should proceed!!!

Thanks..
