Connect to local database from SQLPlus

Hi to all,

I am having a strange problem. I have installed Oracle 7.3 Workgroup Server to an NT machine. The machine is stand-alone and I am able to start a session with SQLPlus by just entering the username and password leaving the service box blank. As far as I know from Personal Oracle, when the service information is blank, SQLPlus automatically connects to any Oracle running locally in that machine.. However, this only works for the system/manager account. When I try to do the same thing for another account, SQLPlus just hangs.

Any ideas why?

Thanks..
