Digest authentication in OWS 2.1

I try to use the digest authentication model in Oracle Web Server 2.1 but
no internet browser has permitted the access to the virtual path protected.
I think that the digest autentication isn't supported by Netscape and MSIE.
Has any one notice about this problems?
