We are using an Oracle 7.3 workgroup server on a Windows NT server. We are encountering a strange behaviour. When we logout from the server console there is either no way to connect to the database from the client or the client application goes GPF on exit. The only solution we found to fix this is to be logged in permenantly on the console. If we have to logout for any reasons then the solution is to log in again, stop then start the OracleTNSListener.
Why does this happen ? Is this related to IPS/SPX protocol ? How can we avoid this ?
