Performance Under Auditing

We are using Oracle 7.1.6 on DEC Alpha.

I am considering switching on object auditing to confirm that a large number tables in our production system are really redundant. I propose to switch it on for selected objects only and if I have done my research correctly, then the audit activity should be zero.

What is the performance impact of switching auditing on (% decrease) ?

Does this performance decrease affect non audited objects (% decrease) ?

Cheers,
