It's possible, but you need to have a firewall that understands SQL*Net. (The problem is that although the listener listens on one port, the actual connections are handled on other port numbers. If you're using Unix, try executing netstat and see which ports are in use.)

There are a number of firewalls that support SQL*Net, although they're all commercial products. Some pass the SQL*Net connections, others act as SQL*Net proxies. The following used to be available, but you should call Oracle to see what is available now:

	Checkpoint Firewall-1
	TIS Gauntlet
	Raptor Eagle
