One project we were involved in was going to have approx. 5000 inserts per second.

We looked at all possible solution including solaris and NT.

The Oracle/Solaris PDB architechture with some table splicing made this possible. We did not get the contract - they picked an NT solution due to lower cost, but we expect them back next year when they hit the NT limit (very very sson).

Oh, as well as this data load batch reports and realtime reports via web inetrfaces had to be created. As well and online backups.
