It depends on how critiical your data is and how much downtime you can expect in case something happens.

I would say that you do not pay extra money on Unix just for nothing. Unix machine can run for months without reboot or crash. NT craches prety often. I will not go to NT unless I am ready to have more downtime for the database. NT 5.0 or later might be more robust.
