I run Oracle 7.2 on an NT 3.51 server on a DEC Alpha 2100 server.

My alert*.log and trace files are getting kinda huge. How do I rename them and recreate the files?

Do I do it at the operating system level?? Is there a special way to do this in Oracle so the database knows what's going on??
Do I need to recreate the files or will Oracle recreate them whe writing to them??
Is it really a big deal or am I just worrying to much about it???

Thanking you all in advance
