Thanks everybody for the answers. It seems that we have to recompile the application software, in this case Oracle. Some other tricks to be done as well such as creating/mounting file systems to allow them to use large filesystems.

Large files over 2GB require the use of new system functions that use 64 bit file offsets. Look in "/usr/share/doc/10.20RelNotes" at the "Large Files" section to see a short 300 line discussion. See /usr/share/doc/lg_files.txt for the full 2500 line white paper.
