Date Modified: 30-JAN-97

From PR 1025372.6

Problem Summary

OEMTAB10.ins(35): FILE NOT FOUND WHILE CHANGING DIRECTORY FROM D:\ORANT\SYSMAN\ADMIN Problem Description

While installing the 7.3.2.2.1 Workgroup Server on Windows NT, the user selects
the server installation for a first time installation. The installation fails
with OEMTAB10.ins(35): FILE NOT FOUND WHILE CHANGING DIRECTORY FROM D:\ORANT\SYSMAN\ADMIN (if the Oracle_home is on the D drive).

Solution Summary

select custom install to install server first, then Oracle Enterprise Manager

Solution Description

  1. restart the installer
  2. when given the options for server, standard client, or custom install, select custom install
  3. select all components, and then deselect the Oracle Enterprise Manager Web Administration Tools, Oracle Enterprise Manager SDK, the Oracle Enterprise Manager Documentation, Oracle Enterprise Manager Repository Builder, and the Oracle Administrator Toolbar.
  4. complete the installation and install the starter database.
  5. reboot the system
  6. via file manager on Windows NT 3.51 or explorer on Windows NT 4.0, create an admin directory if it does not exist.
  7. if Oracle Enterprise Manager is desired on this system, start the installer from the CD-ROM, and select Custom installation, select the Oracle Enterprise Manager Web Administration Tools, Oracle Enterprise Manager SDK, the Oracle Enterprise Manager Documentation, Oracle Enterprise Manager Repository Builder, and the Oracle Administrator Toolbar, and install them.
  8. verify the services are running in control panel, the OracleServiceORCL and the OracleTNSListenerORCL must be started and set to start up automatically. The OracleStartORCL service should be set to start automatically.
  9. from a command prompt (DOS window), change to the orant\bin directory.
  10. type svrmgr23 and press ENTER
  11. the internal password the user assigned during the installation is required in place of the word PASSWORD in the following command: type connect internal/PASSWORD_at_2:orcl and press ENTER
  12. if the response is connected, go to step 14
  13. if the response is connected to an idle instance, type startup pfile=d:\orant\database\initorcl.ora and press ENTER
  14. type select * from dual; and press ENTER; the responce should come back with an x, an _ and a d, displaying one row selected. if it does everything is working correctly with the database and the user can exit and complete the networking and Oracle Enterprise Manager installations.
