The test is 'officially' administered by Sylvan test centers, who _never_ cancel tests. They charge $195, I beleive.

It's tough to generate sympathy for someone complaining because he couldn't save a few bucks by waiitng for the one time a year the test is given 'free' (assuming you would attend the conference anyway).

As to whether or not you take the exam, who cares? You're the one that has to sell yourself in the marketplace. I'll take a certified DBA over a Master DBA anytime - the one has passed an exam proving he/she has valid hands-on experience; all the other has done is buy a certificate from Oracle by taking a bunch of courses. Book knowledge is necessary, but no substitute for experience.
