I asked that earlier and someone said there is a very small window of 
time when NT signals the beginning of a shutdown and the actual 
shutdown.  Oracle and/or MS said that this is not enough time to do a 
clean shutdown.



Someone suggested we write a program that, when called, shuts down the 
DB, then tells NT to shut down.
