Hi !
I have a problem with SQL*Net on NT3.51 with SP5 installed.
(I have not yet tried the solutions provided in the list lately
because i
believe my problem is somewhat different)
For various reasons I have to use SQL*Net 2.3 16 bit as client-side
SQL*Net. Server side is 2.3 32bit.
I am using Oracle Workgroup Server 7.3.2, RunForms45 4.5.10 16bit.
SQL*Net works, but not fine !
32 bit TNSPING is excelent with 10-40ms responses. 16 bit TNSPING is
not so
good with 10-5000ms responses at random intervals.
The strangeest thing happens when i use 16bit TNSPING and change focus
from
TNSPING to something else on the desktop. Then suddenly i get
responses in
the 10-40ms from TNSPING in the background !
What is this and most importantly how do I fix it ?
Reponses in my application behave just the same; remove focus and
everything runs smoothly, gain focus and it is a drag !
Oh, almost forgot, this only happens on the Workstation hosting the
Oracle Server, not the other WS's.
Any help would be greately appreciated !
Late breaking news : Adjusting the priority settings in NT system in
control panel to equal for background and foreground jobs makes the
problem go away. But.. NT start to behave strange, freezing
screensaver etc. Alas.. It is a workaround, not a solution !
Please help !
TIA
