Actually, ERwin 2.6 does the incremental changes to a database now. They call it 'bi-directional sync', and it works pretty well. You can compare your model to a physical database (or to another model) and only the differences will be highlighted. You can then either make your model look like the database, or make your database match the model, or any combination of the above. If you want to alter a table, it will generate code to create a temporary table to hold the old data, then create a new table with the new structure, then copy the old data back into the new table. This is great for on-going maintenance of a database, which ERwin used to be lousy at. Version 2.6 is definitely worth the cost of the upgrade. Received on Thu Apr 03 1997 - 00:00:00 CST
